Who Am I, Truly

Every hat I wear with pride

Is a testament to who I’m not:

Daughter Friend Student

Lover Worker Volunteer

All masks covering up my soul;

All false fronts of an ego’s wish;

All just attempts to make my life here real.

Who am I?

Not the clothes I put on each day

To define my worthiness,

Not the time I spend planning

To spend my time,

A healed heart is worn naked.

A healed mind does not plan.

Who am I truly?

I am only a Child of God.

Kindness created me kind.

Love created me loving.

Peace created me peaceful.

Joy created me joyful.

I am not this body,

I am free,

For I am still as God created me.
