When the terror comes
I look right at it
But first I ask for help
To see it properly
To understand cause from effect
To know Truth from obfuscation
With the terror comes
Crushing heart pains
Guilt in such magnitude
It stops the breath
A brain freeze, worse
Than one caused by an icy drink
Why does the terror come
Upon waking
One second after consciousness
Is it because the mind is most receptive
And open to Spirit lessons
Before dawn starts the day
We judge when terror comes
Believing it’s because of sin
And a cause of future pain
But we are wrong
We are never upset
For the reasons we think
Whenever terror comes
I will be grateful
It reminds me why I am human
To work out my salvation
To separate perception from reality
And to do the work of going home
