I dreamed a dream so frightening
And awoke with streaming tears
My Father came to hold me
And to chase away my fears.
I heard him softly whisper,
As I told him of my woe,
“My child, it’s just a dream
It is not so.”
I thought your love had left me
And you tired of my arms
Abandonment obsessed me
As you failed to see my charms
Till finally I remembered
You can never let me go
I thought I lost you but
It is not so.
I saw my future darkening
And my heart seized up in pain.
Confusion swirled round me,
Tempting me to go insane.
And then through peering eyes
I looked and saw the sunlight’s glow
I knew again the truth,
It is not so.
